**Breaking** (confirmed): Trey Gowdy has resigned from the House Ethics Cmte!**

Off to find more info-- initially only lots of RW sources reporting in addition to Dworkin (e.g., Daily Caller)

On edit: official letter via Congressional Record Link:

On edit 2: Despite the excitement from Dworkin, as DU poster StevieM and L. Coyote have suggested, this may reflect only Gowdy's assumption of the Oversight Committee Chair. That is certainly the view expressed on conservative sites. Obviously, we'd all like it to reflect something MORE in the offing. I guess we will have to wait and see...

    18. Not really. Gowdy is now Chair of House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

He resigned because of his promotion to that committee.

    40. And he came up with nothing.

I love reminding republicans of this everytime they say he should be the next AG, etc.
It's hard to get to the truth when Democrats pols and liberal DOJ, FBI, and the President obstruct so you cannot get the information you need. Now however.....the corruption is being exposed.

    21. I'd rather see him resign from his Congressional position immediately

As a condition of his resignation being accepted, he has to turn over all of his assets to the U.S. Treasury.

Otherwise, he can rot in Congress until his ass gets officially booted out this November, taking consequences of all of his actions.

My suspicion, based on the dubious DUmmy crap, is this is fake news.

I'd greatly prefer Trey Gowdy to be the Attorney General.

Trey Gowdy resigns as House Ethics Committee member
    by Gabby Morrongiello | Jan 13, 2018, 3:47 PM | Updated Jan 13, 2018, 9:14 PM
Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., is stepping down from his role on the House Ethics Committee, citing a "challenging workload" as the reason for his departure.
"When I became Chairperson of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, I knew I would not be able to keep all other committee assignments to include Judiciary, Intelligence, and Ethics," Gowdy wrote.

The former prosecutor was the only lawmaker serving four separate committee assignments when he stepped down from the Ethics panel last week.
IOW, Gowdy recently became the chair on the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and stepped down from the House Ethics Committee. IOW, it was a straightforward shift in responsibilities whose sinister quality is in the minds (or cirrhotic livers) of DU-folk. I doubt they're going to be appreciative of Gowdy's new assignment.
    Facts don't matter to DUpipo.
