A high-speed Amtrak train bound for Penn Station broke apart as it was cruising through Maryland on Tuesday, sources told The Post.

A high-speed Amtrak train bound for Penn Station broke apart as it was moving at top speed through Maryland.

The 2150 Acela was traveling from Washington, DC, to the Big Apple when the incident happened at about 6:30 a.m. The train was traveling at about 125 mph, according to the source.

“Someone could have been walking through the train when that happened and fell to their death,” said the source.

Amtrak officials confirmed the incident and said there were 52 passengers aboard at the time.

I'm sure CNN and MSNBC will declare it was all Trump's fault.

Well, the way railway brakes work, once a car disconnects, the brake line hoses disconnect too, which makes the car brakes engage, so other than some moron trying to zip across the tracks between the head end and the loose car(s) before it stops (Pretty unlikely) there isn't that much danger involved.

Problem would come in if another fast mover was right behind it and in the same signal block, for instance rush hour commuter trains in high density areas.

You kidding? If Trump woke up tomorrow and said he would try and repeal the 2nd Amendment the Democrats would be the most pro gun group in America. That is, the ones that didn't break their necks from whiplash.

Man I can't wait for the State of California starts running high speed rail. Nothing bad will happen with that.

It works well in Europe. CA has a lot of seismic activity, an earthquake that affected a 200 mph train would have major disaster potential. Or it would make a good Irwin Allen movie plot. Either way.
