When you watch TV or read the news, you would be led to believe that Trump was not elected, that he never won the election, and that the fact that he is our President is some sort of mistake.

I went through the election results again briefly and Trump won across the board. It wasn't as if he just won Florida (like it was a fluke) or that he just one two states more. No, he won across the board with large margins. And, even the states that stayed blue BARELY stayed blue. Some of those margins are so small that Hillary won them by.

This was a mandate and a large sea change.

I want to ask the question as to WHY Trump won?

I have listened to the media's answers to this question but I want to hear it from you. I don't really trust their answers.

He won because mainstream America was fed up after 8 years of obama's shit and wanted someone from outside the beltway.

I felt what turned off a lot of voters off was the SJWs going down and starting shit at every rally, attacking people, destroying things and calling people every name in the book. All they wanted to do were the things they think their parents and even their grandparents did in the 60's and 70's; of course they never knew how much that stuff even then alienated the American people. That's how Nixon got elected.

with Identity Politics dominating the Democrats, it was a clear sign that they had abandoned the Working Class and that alienatedeven more people.

But what solidify things was when Hillary called people DEPLORABLES in her speech; that just told people she was an elitist and she was looking down her nose at them.

I worked the phone banks for Romney, as the lesser of two evils.
I saw McCain "reaching across the aisles" and get shit on.
Jeb was never in the running.
Cruz, Paul acceptable, but lots of baggage. Did not always like their positions.
    Was cheering for Scott Walker.

But Trump. Maybe it was his lack, or his fresh face, his energy.

He brought something to the table/discussion, that other candidates could not, would not.

Positions I could support, that where not being discussed.

I don't know, real world knowledge?

  5. #5 Why did Trump Win?
I, for one, could not vote for a Democrat no matter how appealing they are. Moreover, their platform does not serve my self-interest. Trump was not in my top 10. Once he gained the nomination I was in and would support him or any REP.

Trump symbolizes something other than the “establishment.” He was a fighter. Like Ranger Rick said, establishment Republicans get brutalized by the DEMs and media. Nice guys finish last! Trump was different and was not going to take the crap. His Populist appeal allowed him to get votes that otherwise would have been difficult for any other Republican. I don’t know who else of the other 16 in the pack could have accomplished what Trump did?

He has been checking off what he said he would do. I like that. I hope others who voted for him stick with him. I see no future with the country leaning DEM which nowadays looks more like leftists and Socialism.

In my mind, will conservatism stand or be eroded and replaced with a socialist model like Europe as our demographics change?

I am older and will get the opportunity to see this unfold, but won’t necessarily have to feel the pain compared to the younger crowd entering the job market and who have their entire life before them.

When I look around and see and hear from friends in CA, if this is the example of a future America. No Thank You!

The mid-terms will be crucial and especially when I look at the courts and Trump being able to accomplish more.

Why did he win and why he will win again...

    For the reasons stated above...

Plus he's against the media. Our seething resentment of the media continues to be underestimated. It's wayyyy more intrinsic and interlocking than just checking-a-box Do You Hate The Media? Trump's with us and he's basically our point-man on it.

You nailed Caddy man. I will make the call now, please save my post as I have either predicted the future correctly or I am dead wrong. Either way I will stand up for it.

Its over folks, you have seen the last of Trump and the LAST of the Mohicans (GOP). We cannot win in 2020 and beyond.

Here is why: Soros, Zuckerberg, Gates, Bezos and a double handful of other BILLIONAIRES are all extreme far left. Soros is peeling off $Million dollar funding check to ever extreme far left in Texas that is or want to run.

The Money: The Billionaire Boys Club has the coin to spread this across the US like butter on warm toast.

The Voters: Illegals, and anyone who can fog a mirror will pick up a pay day on the freedom bus on the way to the voting booth. There are more of them they there are of us, simple as that.

The Law: There are "activist Federal Judges" all across the US who rule and make law from the bench.

I think after 28 years of the same ol' same 'ol, people were tired, on both sides. This is why Bernie Sanders was as close as he was but because of the corruption in the Democrat party, he didn't stand a chance. People are simply tired and the sad thing is, the establishment GOP and the going further and further left Democrat party still doesn't get it. Was Trump the ideal candidate? Hardly but his appeal was that he was the only real outsider in the race on either side. The GOP side, they wanted Jeb Bush. This is why there were so many running to try to derail Trump and it failed miserably. Even with his acerbic rhetoric people gravitated toward him. I wasn't a Trump guy until he was the presumptive nominee. I was a Rand Paul and Ted Cruz guy. But after that, the GOP nominee could have been a shoe and I would have voted for it over Hillary.

    WHY Trump won?
Why he won is a general question. Won vs other Republicans. Or won vs Hillary. I assume the later. To which there is not one single simple reason, but a series of mistakes Hillary made.

First of which Hillary assumed that the rust belt, which for decades had gone blue, would naturally continue to vote blue. Thus she wouldn't need to pay any attention to winning their votes.

Then there was total foot in the mouth statements she made. Wanting to end coal, and the "Deplorables" comment.

But even those two reasons, you really need to look at each state. And mistakes made.

Here is Iowa where I live, she launched her campaign just 30 miles from where I live in a bar owned by a supporter. She went in there with cameras to film her surrounded by "Everyday Iowans". Problem is, of all the people in the bar, only the owner was an actual Iowan. And the people who live here knew it. She bused in campaign staffers and supporters from other states to fill the bar to give the appearance of those who support her. Here in Iowa, we hate phony candidates. And that made it clear, she was phony. Well known Dem supporters I know, took down her campaign signs. In-fact finding a Hillary 2016 sign was kinda hard to find in Iowa.

Then heading North to Wisconsin. She only visited it once, and that was near the end of the campaign. Well after voters had already made up their minds to who they will vote for. Trump on the other hand visited it a lot. Then there is the newly passed voter ID law, that was now in full effect. Those who live around here know, the colleges in Milwaukee was aiding in allowing people to vote multiple times, and allow people from other states to vote using the same day voting process that all you needed was a Student ID to vote. The new law in effect, now stops that. Then you look at Northern Wisconsin. Might surprise some, but Wisconsin has a booming mining operation in the Northern part of the state. Jobs that would be threatened if Hillary would have won due to increased EPA rules.

Now looking at Michigan. A total surprise win. But if you dig into the election here. Blacks in Detroit did not come out to vote for Hillary and by doing so, the State flipped for Trump. The margin was very narrow. Blacks felt Hillary and Dems in general had abandoned them. Were no longer listening to them and felt Hillary didn't care about their needs. And in protest, sat home. Again this is another state Hillary ignored thinking it was a solid blue win. It wouldn't have taken much for her to secure, but she ignored it. And lost the state.

Then the biggest loss for her was Pennsylvania. Now some annalist will claim Penn has been creeping to a Purple status. But you had to really dig into the votes. It was blue collar workers in districts that once were steel producing factories now closed that switched to voting for Trump that cost Hillary Penn. Districts that are heavy union, and life long Dems felt abandoned and forgotten by the left. Listened to what Trump had to say and agreed, it was what they have been asking, praying for, and wanted. Where Dems there simply told them, it's the new normal to see their jobs leaving for cheap overseas labor. That is what cost Hillary there.

If you look at some of the other Purple states. Ohio has been sliding more red over the last few years. To the point it may be a fully red state at this point now. Florida is also seeing it's-self now sliding more red.

South Carolina, she blew that state with her war on coal statement. This state has basically two main industries. Coal mining, and the medical industry. Half the state works their whole lives in the mining industry, while the other half cares for them when their health fails due to the fact the mining industry is very bad for their health there. Destroy the one, the other falls too. And the economy of S. Carolina is gone. And the people here know it.

You creep around looking at the other states, it's mostly she ignored them, came off as disingenuous, or people there were more interested in saving their jobs after years of seeing them leave the country.

Direct and to the point. No "PC filter". He calls a lie a lie and not a misspeak. What the hell is a "misspeak" if the person has said it 12 times? Its a lie. Bush would never be so direct. And, that drove me nuts at times. I no longer feel the need to yell at the TV when Trump talks.
