Jesus Banned from Christian Easter Advertisement – Too Offensive

A church in Australia was told to remove the word “Jesus” from its signs ahead of Easter Sunday.
    It was deemed too offensive.

    The Daily Mail reported:

A church has been forced to remove the word ‘Jesus’ from its signs ahead of Easter because it has been causing offence.

Elim Church on the Central Coast in New South Wales paid for digital signs to be displayed at Erina Fair shopping centre reading ‘the greatness of His Power’.

Pastor Martin Duffy told 2GB radio that shopping centre manager Lendlease objected to the signs and forced them to be changed to read ‘Risen Christ’ instead of ‘Jesus’.

‘The phrase ‘Jesus is alive’… is the core message of the Christian faith and what Easter’s really all about,’ he said.

‘It’s a good message. I think there’s a minority group out there that are constantly distorting the message of Jesus Christ. It’s just going on and on.’

Elim Church is a West Gosford evangelical church located north of Sydney.

Don't give them any ideas. Leftism is a religion that can stand NO competition.

Mercy! This subject not only harkens back to ancient times re being persecuted and having to hide the fact of being Christian ...

But reminds me of when I was an Anglican Sunday School teacher. And yes, I really was one for a time. And remember teaching my class about what happened during those times.

When threatened by Romans in the early days of Christianity, Christians when meeting up with a stranger, used to draw half of the fish symbol (ichthus) in the sand.. If completed by the other, it meant that they too, were followers of Christ.

I can't reproduce the exact image used, using only my keyboard ...

But have adopted and used this one a few times in CU over the years.

    Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;

Guess, the expression had to originate somewhere!

I was thinking today at church that we were headed back to the catacombs.

    What a thought!

I doubt that any time soon we will be forced to have such secret meetings ...

But the way things are heading, and if not stopped, is a distinct possibility for *sometime* in the distant future.

Christians in China, North Korea, many of the Muslim majority -stan countries in the Middle East and Africa and other hostile parts of the world already are. But those areas are also seeing explosive growth in their underground churches, back to the catacombs may not be a bad thing.

With all the thought policing and spread of micro-aggressions, I can see the Church getting pushed into unmarked backrooms like old adult movie stores, or even hidden speak easy type rooms, whether legally or under social pressure. Antifa could take a page from the extremists in the ME (or their own forefathers, the KKK) going on major vigilante crusades with no fear of prosecution from sympathetic or scared authority figures.

Still trying to figure out if I'm getting too cynical or too realistic.
