The quake was registered as 4.5 on the Richter Scale. The National Weather Service said there is no threat of a tsunami. 4.5 is considered a 'light' quake with only those near the impact area feeling any effect.

I'm only 50 miles from the Gulf and I heard or felt nothing that would even resemble an earth quake near La. My dog did belch once or twice after the noon meal but other than that it remains the usual boring existence we live. I was just hoping for a little rain and we got none of that either
