Beauty queen turns in crown after #MeToo joke at Miss Massachusetts pageant
By Amanda Watts and Madison Park, CNN

Updated 3:01 AM ET, Mon July 9, 2018

(CNN)A beauty queen gave up her title after a skit was performed at the Miss Massachusetts competition that made fun of the #MeToo movement. Maude Gorman was one of the contestants in the Miss Massachusetts pageant earlier this month, when a crack about #MeToo was made on stage. Gorman, who said she was gang raped when she was 13, said the moment she heard the joke that she "instantly knew I had to do something. It was going to eat away at me if I didn't," she told CNN.

She resigned from her title of Miss Plymouth County 2018 last week, writing on Instagram: "While I'm grateful for the opportunities that @missamerica creates for young women, I am also internally conflicted; as the #metoo movement was mocked on stage during the final competition of Miss Massachusetts. As both a survivor, and advocate for victims rights and sexual violence on a whole, I refuse to stand idly by and simply 'let this go.'"

A video containing a portion of the controversial skit was posted by the Observer.

In what the Observer described as part of the comedy sketch, a woman is onstage, kneeling and talking about how Miss America has scrapped the swimsuit portion from its competition.

"Miss American did away with the swimsuit competition," the woman says in the skit. "We may have very well seen the last ever swimsuit competition on stage. It's very upsetting and I'm trying to understand, God, why it happened."

"Me too, Amy," replies a man whom the Observer described as dressed as God and holding a #MeToo sign. The crowd cheers and laughs, and the skit continues.

Good for her. I can't believe shit like this still goes on.
I guess it wasn't mean enouogh or vindictive toward conservatives, since that seems to be the only 'joke' they laugh at.

We have to pick up the gauntlet when deplorable people, in our face, dare us to take a stand. A real star is born.

    11. Why would women mock the MeToo movement?

or anyone for that matter? It's a serious problem. Mocking it would enable the problem to continue.

Miss Gorman looks like a very strong beautiful survivor of horrific brutality at age 13.

    12. You already know the answer...

many, many women are brainwashed by the riechwing. And many, many still support the PGIC. (p*ssy grabber in chief)
When Democrats turned it into a political weapon all the while supporting THEIR politicians who were accused it ceased to be a legitimate movement.

    22. Well, why would ANY woman vote for Mr. "Grab 'Em By the Pussy?"

    It just boggles the mind.

But I guess people vote against their best interests all the time, if the marketing is any ďgood.Ē
Because the IDIOTS know what my, and every other people's "best interest" is? LOL

This was in Massachusetts, so it's probably blue-on-blue. Or maybe very misrepresented. Either or both ways, it's a don't-care for me.
    Facts don't matter to DUpipo.

Actually, I think the young lady was not just about "hurt feelings." She was a survivor of sexual assault (for real) and she identified #MeToo as being connected with her own suffering. I think her move was a genuine reaction.

Too bad the #MeToo movement was just a way of gaining notoriety for actresses. However, this pageant winner took it seriously and I think she was correct to stand by her convictions.

Also, ANYONE who uses the Lord God in a skit about semi-nudity on stage should have lighting strike him--but that's not my call.

I intended nor meant disrespect for the woman's ordeal. But I seriously distrust and disrespect the MSM and DUpipo's reactions to just about anything.

That's my thought, too, especially considering the location.
News flash: Plenty of libs feel that way about the movement. Look at the uproar right on the DUmp when their golden boy Al Franken (Who many DUmmies suggested should run for President) was exposed as having sexually harassed multiple women.
Plus, plenty of liberal scumbag entertainers love making sick, tasteless jokes like that for imagined "Shock value." Just look at Seth MacFarlane. His mind- numbing show 'Family Guy' has not one but TWO characters designed to make the sexual assault of women and children look funny and amusing (Quagmire and Herbert). And liberals LOVE that show!

It's really several bridges too far to say a joke about beauty pageant contestants being sexually attractive is a 'Me too' moment.
