Another case of needing to record somewhere what catches my ear on the radio, a show guest (connected to Mossad back then) was talking about the upcoming anniversary and mentioned knowing things the general public doesn't, including possible hijackings in California that didn't end up happening. Does anyone have any reliable sources on such possibilities? I'm genuinely curious.

According to the NYT in 2004, staff on the 911 commission believed that the original plan was for 10 planes. Inability to get more potential hijackers into the U.S. curtailed the plan.

Curious irrelevant fact about the article itself: The NYT referred several times to "Mr. bin Laden".

Wikileaks reported in 2011 that leaked U.S. diplomatic cables believed that a fifth 3-man hijack team cancelled at the last minute and returned from LA to their native Qatar instead of NYC.

Wikileaks has a much better track record than the U.S. government or mainstream media. Just sayin'.

Nah, e. That story would've been unearthed 10-times-over, by 2002.

There were no targets relevant to bin laden in California.

It would've been too dark out there for novices to hit anything. And after 6:15AM pacific everything flying would've been shot down, no questions asked.

That said, Brennan and Obama had the docs collected by the bin laden raid.

They allegedly weren't going for California targets:

They later they flew to Los Angeles, where they stationed themselves in a hotel near the airport which the FBI has now established was paid for by a “convicted terrorist”, who also bought their airline tickets.

Hotel staff have told investigators they saw pilot uniforms in their room along with computer print outs detailing pilot names, flight numbers and times and packages addressed to Syria, Afghanistan, Jerusalem and Jordan.

On September 10 they were booked on an American Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Washington, but failed to board. The following day the same Boeing 757 aircraft was hijacked by five terrorists and crashed into the Pentagon.

I remember hearing somewhere that another
plane was due but by time they were ready to
board all the airspace had been shutdown.

Supposedly the muzzie scum got angry they
could not board but left the airport before
    cops arrived.

I don't remember where I heard this and it
    may have just been BS.
May the FORCE be with you!

And even if there had been, the terrorists could depend on Sacramento Democrats to lay waste to them.

There was palpable fear in Chicago that we were a target. Obviously it never happened, but completely reasonable on that day.

That was the discussion in Detroit-a lot of the skyscrapers were evacuated that day, including one of the state buildings and the Renaissance Center, which I don't think was GM's headquarters at the time. But we were more afraid for Chicago, mainly because of the Sears Tower being a pretty attractive target to those assholes.

Completely understandable. Worked in a suburban medium rise building near O'Hare, while my then wife was teaching about a mile north of downtown Chicago. Couldn't get ahold of her until early afternoon. Nor could we get ahold of our friends in Manhattan. It was a creepy day that is seared in my memory.
