Debra Katz, the attorney for the woman accusing Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault, said that it is not her client’s job to corroborate her claims.

Katz said on CNN on Monday that investigators should be responsible for proving Christine Blasey Ford’s claim that Kavanaugh held her down and drunkenly groped her while at a party in high school.

During the interview, Katz revealed that there was another girl present at the party, which allegedly took place in 1982 while Kavanaugh was attending Georgetown Prep. Ford previously told the Washington Post that there were four boys at the party but never indicated if there were other girls beside herself.

“While we have you, perhaps you can help us fill in the blanks on some of her story. She says that she was at a party in probably 1982 in Montgomery County, Maryland. She says that there were four guys there, these are high school students, as was she. There were four guys there. Were there any girls there that day?” anchor Alisyn Camerota asked.

“Yes, there was another girl at this party, yes,” Katz said
I wasn't aware that the laws had been changed. I though a plaintiff or defendant had to provide evidence of guilt or innocence.

A prosecutor has the obligation to prove his case "beyond reasonable doubt". The accused defendant does not have to prove their innocence (though being able to prove they were miles away from the crime at the time is not a bad thing).

Strictly speaking, a confirmation hearing is not a court room, so the female accuser does not have to prove anything. But refusing to back up her accusation is contrary to most Americans' sense of justice.

At present, it looks like the female accuser is ignoring offers for her to testify before the Senate. She may be refusing because she knows her story would get shredded. Or maybe she's going to pop in unannounced to stir up some drama. IMO, the Rs should make Monday the committee vote if she's a no-show, IOW make it put-up-or-shut-up.

    Onward… ! to pre-Magna Carta Britain.

This crap is downright despicable. Even some of the worst trials in History in some of the worst countries in the world, presented some sort of 'evidence'.

I'm not a big fan of Lindsey Graham but sometimes he's right on the money.

Graham calls handling of Kavanaugh allegations 'a drive-by shooting'

“They’ve had tons of time to do this. This has been a drive-by shooting when it comes to Kavanaugh," Graham continued. "I’ll listen to the lady, but we’re going to bring this to a close.”

    Corker has come around:

Republicans extended a hand in good faith. If we don’t hear from both sides on Monday, let’s vote.
    Collins? Flake? Nothing definitive yet.
