She explained to the pharmacist that she needed the drug, misoprostol, because she'd had a miscarriage (the fetus' heart had stopped beating). Misoprostol, also known by the brand name Cytotec, is often used to treat miscarriages. If it's combined with mifepristone, a drug often called the "abortion pill," it can terminate an early pregnancy.

"He didn't believe me and said that he would still not give me the medication," Peterson said.
She asked to speak to another pharmacist; he said no other pharmacist was there. She asked to speak with a manager; he said there was no manager their to speak with. She asked whether the prescription could be transferred to another pharmacy. He said no. Peterson said she felt bullied.
So does anyone support what this man did? My sister in-law had a miscarriage; she became ill and went to the doctor who told her that her baby was dead. A abortion was performed to preserve her health. What kind of religious values dictate that a woman's health is worth less than a baby's corpse?

This process should be handled by a doctor at a hospital in case of complications. This sounds a lot like self-diagnosis with self-treatment.
Cast your burden on the Lord,
    and he will sustain you;
    he will never permit
    the righteous to be moved.

is misoprostol available OTC or does it need a prescription?

She had an Rx from the doctor making the diagnosis. I donít fault the pharmacist except he should have passed it on to someone else at his pharmacy or to another pharmacy.
It's not how old you are, it's how you got here.
It's been a long road and not all of it was paved.

IF this story is accurate(*) the Pharmacist should be fired for placing her life in danger.

    * This story seems to be pushing a narrative (an outlandish one at that). I think that there's more to this than what's been told here....

Agreed, there is an agenda here. IF she had a miscarriage and if she had a doctor's script there is no moral qualms about filling the script, since no life would be ended....

I feel like there is a HUGE part of this story that is missing. This story is 1+3 = 7...... it ain't right....

There is lots missing from the story. The pharmacy is not saying much other than the pharmacist is no longer working there and they are investigating. I wonder why the pharmacist allegedly said he did not believe the woman had a miscarriage? Do people come in with fake prescriptions for abortion pills a lot?

It's not the pharmacist's job to diagnose or to change prescription medication (other than generics). If the pharmacist had reason to believe the prescription was a fake (as many do for narcotics), that is different and the police should be contacted.

That being said, I smell a rat here. I am withholding judgement until I have more details.

    Edited to add:
    https://www.cnn.com/2018/10/19/healt...rnd/index.html

Peterson, of Ionia, Michigan, was out of town and away from the pharmacy that she usually uses, so she called the pharmacy at Meijer, a 230-store grocery chain located in six Midwestern states. She was initially told that the prescription her doctor had called in would be filled. But then the pharmacist there called back and said he wouldn't fill it.

"The pharmacist called me and said that he could not in good conscience fill this medication because he was a good Catholic male and could not support an abortion," Peterson told CNN.
Sounds like a pre-empting a Kavanaugh pro-life vote. My bet is the ACLU started looking for a case as soon as Kavanaugh was nominated (Note the July date of the alleged prescription).

The background music on the CNN video at the site is HILARIOUS! Such angst.

Also the store policy allows for conscience decisions but prescriptions need to be passed on:

    https://www.cnn.com/2018/10/19/healt...rnd/index.html
Meijer said it had investigated Peterson's allegations but couldn't discuss them publicly because of state and federal privacy laws. It also reiterated its policies.

"A pharmacist may refuse to fill a prescription based upon religious beliefs. However, our procedure requires the prescription to then be filled by another pharmacist in the store," Meijer said in a statement. "If no other pharmacist is available, the pharmacist must consult with the patient to arrange for the transfer of the prescription to another pharmacy that is convenient to them. This is consistent with the American Pharmacy Association and the Michigan Pharmacy Association Guidelines. A pharmacist who fails to follow this procedure, is in violation of our process."
So if this really happened, it's one guy--not a store or chain.

Also, I think the background of these "victims" should be researched: are they regular activists? Did they deliberately go in with a sketchy story to create this event so they could cause an issue?
