#1 Vatican Stresses ‘Great Sense of Urgency’ to Battle Climate Change
12-05-2018, 06:35 PM
An attitude of “denial” of the perils of climate change “must not prevail” if mankind is to successfully combat global warming, the Vatican’s Secretary of State warned Tuesday.
In his message on behalf of Pope Francis to participants in the U.N.’s COP24 climate meeting in Katowice, Poland, Cardinal Pietro Parolin said that information from the U.N.’s most recent climate change report is “even more worrying given that the current commitments made by States to mitigate and adapt to climate change are not sufficient to achieve the objectives set by the Paris Agreement.”
While “it is still possible to limit global warming,” Parolin said, “to do so will require a clear, forward-looking and strong political will to promote as quickly as possible the process of transitioning to a model of development that is free from those technologies and behaviours that influence the over-production of greenhouse gas emissions.”
What about greenhouse emissions from the church ?

The Church feels obligated to advocate protection of the environment. It's the right thing to do from a humanitarian perspective. Yes, the Pope flys around in a jet, but so do the leaders of other religious denominations. We all contribute to global warming. We have no choice. Our entire existence is based on heavy industry, which entails massive pollution. It's a classic no-win situation. That said, some leaders still feel obligated to speak out against it.

The Catholic Church's stance on global warming isn't nearly as troubling as that of secular governments.

The church is trying to take attention away from their egregious cover up of pedophile, child molesting priests.

I don't know that they're trying to distract. If they're really being that stupid a 12YO could tell them it won't work.
Would that the Vatican were this concerned over something they can control, getting pedophile priests out of positions in the church of trust and authority.Facts don't matter to DUpipo.
