    I Am Woman by Helen Reddy, reaching Number-1 on the charts, in 1972.

    And it was horrible... beginning with the choice of Reddy herself, after AM-radio was hyping the song as a possible landmark. And the instrumentation didn't know whether it wanted to a rock-song or a marching-anthem.

    So yeah, the powers that be made it a landmark because I'm writing about it in 2018.

    What a blast from the past that was. I suppose in light of the woman's movement was really taking off at that time, it was a landmark. But I always thought the "hear me roar" part was a stupid, corny line. Not that I think women shouldn't be proud, they should. I just always thought that particular part sounded dumb to me.

    Ha, ha.... Yeah, I remember Helen Reddy and her dorky song. Ha.... I recall saying to myself, "Puke."

    I saw a biker sing that song on a dare at a bar that was doing karaoke. He sang really well and it is still one of the funniest things I have ever seen.
    Cast your burden on the Lord,
    and he will sustain you;
    he will never permit
    the righteous to be moved.

    I prefer "Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves" by The Queen of Soul and The Eurythmics as a feminist anthem.

    I think that "Locomotion" performed by Grand Funk Railroad as the ultimate feminist anthem.

    Women ARE anthems.

    They don't necessarily need a musical one.

    That's my John Lennon thought of the day.
