The Senate voted to block President Trump's emergency declaration, with 12 Republicans joining Democrats.

The final vote was 59 to 41.

What this means: The vote is a defeat for the White House. Both Trump and Vice President Mike Pence campaigned against the measure and now Trump will be forced to veto the resolution -- the first veto of his presidency.

I hear alot of the republicans who voted against it are doing so on the idea that it may set a precedence for future administrations to do the same thing in regards to climate change or gun control, but i don't see them offering any solutions to the root problem which is our insecure and porous border.

But that is a misnomer. A president can't do this for gun control because there's a Constitutional amendment that would prevent that. Also, if a president was that stupid, he'd open up a can of worms that would lead to tens of thousands of deaths due to the civil war it would start. Same with climate change. Climate change isn't a matter of national security.
Progressivism is a bottomless pit of absurdity.

They are doing what Republicans do best, misreading the situation politically by 180 degrees.

They’re doing the CYA shuffle knowing DJT will veto and no override is possible.
