How Often Do You Clean Your Fridge Out?

Best By dates aren't as important as Born On dates.

You clean out your Fridge daily, don't you? :p

No, I don't. I do a general toss-and-sort once a week and I clean the shelves and bins maybe every few weeks depending on spillage. A couple of times a year, I get involved with the whole Clorox Clean-Up Total Makeover Program.:mad:

I clean out every week or so, especially if I notice a smell. I do the empty and scrub thing only when I'm having VIP company, or some meat leaked blood all over.

Left overs get tossed after a week, otherwise I use the "Best of Used By" date. It more of an ongoing process rather than a periodic chore.

I had the opportunity to see my BIL's fridge today. We came back from skiing and I casually opened the door hoping for a frosty adult beverage or at least some milk.

Had a clean spork been available, I would have sporked myself.

Now he's single so he can keep it any way he pleases but the potential haz mat issues were intense. He's obviously okay living with a potential zombie apocalypse originating from his veggie drawer. That's fine, it's his kitchen but it got me wondering.

How often do you actually clean out your fridge? I mean, really. Do you care about "Best By" dates? Do you go by smell, clutter, or obvious signs of decomposition?

That's pretty much what I do. It's always a work in progress for me.

Twice a year, I end up taking out all the shelves, bins, etc and clean everything. Including the door gaskets.
