When my mother died in 2009, I wanted to play this at her funeral. I could have, but didnít. In retrospect, I probably should have. It makes me cry every time.

Nope. It's good. But never heard it before. In '77? Kind of a transitional year. The year of Rumours.

Had to wait forever for a DJ to finally say it was Garfield. They would play it and never say who it is.

I passed out at school on a day she was not working and she wouldn't come pick me up. After all, I regained consciousness, so I was good for the day. They so would call CPS on her by todays standards.
You didnít need all of that just to miss a single day of school. Not here, anyway... Now if you were out for days, that would be different. A doctors note would be required. I didnít make a habit of it.

CPS? I can hear them now... Thereís way too much Peter Frampton - Frampton Comes Alive! going on in that house, and itís a 2 record set! Seize him!

October, 19th 1981. David Lee Rothís birthday. My best friend and I attempted to see Van Halen at the Hemisfair Arena in San Antonio, Texas. Our parents were a block away at the Marriott wining and dining.

We got the shit beat out of us outside the arena. I got sucker punched in the back of the head for starters, then we were outnumbered and overwhelmed. They wanted our Van Halen tickets. We were 12 years old. I tore it in half before I handed it over. They didnít get into the show. I remember my father telling me later, son, this is the real world.

This is home. This is Mean Street.

Released in 1972 and I still remember every one of them except knickers.

It's not how old you are, it's how you got here.
It's been a long road and not all of it was paved.
. If you ain't havin' fun, it's your own damn fault
