My first question is what does the census have to do with Russia, but apparently it doesn't matter. All they want is "Executive Privilege" in the headline on the heels of John Dean. They're going for the elderly white demographic in 2020.

BREAKING. White House Invokes Executive Privilege In Census Fight With House Democrats
    https://www.redstate.com/streiff/201...use-democrats/

The House Oversight Committee that is being mismanaged by Democrat chairman and would-be potentate Elijah Cummings (whose wife, by the way, it heavily engaged in financial shenanigans but you’d never know it by watching CNN or reading the New York Times) was all set to vote to hold Attorney General Bill Barr and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross in contempt this morning. At stake was access to a considerable number of documents relating to the decision to add a question to the 2020 Census about the citizenship of the members of the households being enumerated.

Despite the fact that this question was on the Census for about a century and that asking it is recommended even by the UN, somehow this question has become a flashpoint for conflict between Cummings and the White House. The fear on the part of the Democrats is that illegal aliens will not fill out the Census form and thereby deprive sanctuary cities and states of legislative power and federal largess.

Voting contempt citations on cabinet officials seems to be a sport among House Democrats and Barr, in particular, has become a target. Cummings claims it was necessary to get the documents he says are necessary to prove the Census question has nefarious purposes...

President Trump Thumps Cummings – Asserts Executive Privilege Over Census Documents
    https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/201...sus-documents/

President Trump thumped Rep. Elijah Cummings on Wednesday and asserted executive privilege over subpoenaed documents related to the 2020 census question.

Cummings threatened to hold Attorney General Bill Barr and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross in contempt Wednesday morning for defying congressional subpoenas to testify and turn over docs.

After hitting back at Cummings Tuesday night and threatening to assert executive privilege, Assistant Attorney General Stephen Boyd sent the House Oversight Committee another letter Wednesday morning saying the Trump Administration has “engaged in good-faith efforts” to satisfy the committee’s oversight requests, reported the Associated Press.

“Unfortunately, rather than allowing the Department to complete its document production, you have chosen to go forward with an unnecessary and premature contempt vote,” Boyd wrote in Wednesday’s letter.

Last week the Democrat-led House Oversight and Reform Committee, chaired by Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD), moved to hold Attorney General Bill Barr and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross in contempt over the panel’s investigation into the Trump administration’s plans to add a citizenship question to the 2020 census....

Cummings says he will postpone the contempt vote until later this afternoon.

Interesting how trying to secure the vote for citizens--as is specified in the Constitution--is "nefarious".

Ross has gotta be chuckling at the low-IQ silliness of Cummings.

Next to Warren Buffet, Ross has been America's top investor for decades, putting together dozens of legally-entangled business-deals. Cummings has never worked in the private-sector as far as I know. He and his staff telegraphed this stunt weeks ago. Ross is totally ready for their puny maneuvering.

They're doing so for a few reasons.

    1. Census data determines how much federal dollars a state gets. If the census comes back lower, the state gets less money. Meaning the State must make up the difference to support the illegals.

    2. Census data determines the number of House members each state gets to send to DC. If the data comes back lower because illegals fear responding. States like California, Texas, Florida and New York would see their House member count cut as a result. Meaning they have less power in DC.

    3. Census data determines Delegate count in elections. With the pending 2020 elections, no large state wants to see their delegate power reduced.

I am how ever sadden to see the Admn take this path and declare exec privileged. I get why they did it. But it makes it look like they are trying to hide why they desire the census info.

States who make themselves "sanctuaries" for illegals and disregard federal immigration laws should not get one penny in federal funding for their falsely inflated census count by not identifying who is here legally and who is here illegally. Same goes for the number of representatives and delegates they receive. They want to buck the laws but still reap the benefits that a higher population will give them.
