MEMPHIS, Tennessee — Dozens of officers from multiple agencies were on scene of an officer-involved shooting in North Memphis Wednesday evening.

The scene is in the 2000 block of Durham involving — the Frayser neighborhood.

It was unclear what led up to the shooting or how many people were shot. The officers involved were from the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force — part of the US Marshal Service.

Following the shooting, large crowds swarmed the area and there were reports of rocks being thrown at officers as well as stores being looted.

mages from local media showed police standing shoulder-to-shoulder across a street to prevent the crowd from entering the crime scene. The officers were not seen in riot gear.

Reports of looting, sporadic rioting, rocks being thrown at officers. And the TBI has giving permission to use tear gas on the crowds.
