  1. #1 Iran shoots down US drone
Iran claims the drone was in their airspace, the US says it was not.

Not much news on this yet. CNN is reporting their views on how Trump will react, Fox is also commenting on Biden's thoughts. :(

Seems it was an unarmed Global Hawk. I can imagine this turning into a shooting war much faster if it was a U-2.

It all comes down to whether Iran can prove the drone was in their airspace or not. If they can't, or if the US proves that it was shot down over international waters, then I would guess some type of retaliation against Iran is in order.

Or some other party out there is trying to stir things up with Iran and the US. I can think of a couple of other nations who might like that.

Im just finishing this book that describes this exact scenario. A rogue faction of the Chinese Military plans an attack on America. To reduce America's response to the attack, they stage attacks both foreign and domestically made to look like Iran did it in hopes of starting a war between the U.S. and Iran and tying up American Military resources in the Middle East.

I'd rather not see Americans being shot at as part of the retaliation.

Since Iran claims they shot down the drone, it's not likely that another nation is involved.

Any non-cyber retaliation will draw the Deplorables' reaction of: " Yeah, of course they'd hit that. Why didn't we think of that? Frankly, that's downright brilliant. " etc.

It's why I love our military-planners and The President's instincts.

Remind me again of why Kerry and Feinstein were contacting Iran.

Iran War Drums: President Trump Reportedly Cancels Retaliatory Attack; FAA Issues No Fly Order
    https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/201...-no-fly-order/
President Trump reportedly authorized, and then cancelled, a retaliatory attack on Iran Thursday night for the downing of an unarmed U.S. drone the night before, reported the New York Times in a report later confirmed by CBS News. Planes were in the air and ships in position, however no missiles had been launched.

...Excerpt of the New York Times report:

President Trump approved military strikes against Iran in retaliation for downing an American surveillance drone, but pulled back from launching them on Thursday night after a day of escalating tensions.

As late as 7 p.m., military and diplomatic officials were expecting a strike, after intense discussions and debate at the White House among the president’s top national security officials and congressional leaders, according to multiple senior administration officials involved in or briefed on the deliberations.

Officials said the president had initially approved attacks on a handful of Iranian targets, like radar and missile batteries.

The operation was underway in its early stages when it was called off, a senior administration official said. Planes were in the air and ships were in position, but no missiles had been fired when word came to stand down, the official said.

…It was not clear whether Mr. Trump simply changed his mind on the strikes or whether the administration altered course because of logistics or strategy. It was also not clear whether the attacks might still go forward.

…The strike was set to take place just before dawn Friday in Iran to minimize risk to the Iranian military and civilians.

Multiple different stories on the stand down.

One, planes were in the air. No planes had been dispatched. Estimate of 150 dead Iranians vs an unmanned drone would be too much. Drone attack was ordered by a low level official and not the country’s leadership.

Ya picks yer story and ya take yer chances.
