You know, we're going to end up with another President

who hasn't really ever worked for a corporation or been the head of one. That just occurred to me. Most Presidents are people who have spent their lives as public servants, in one way or another. They've worked for the government. So, they aren't really corporate people at all.

Bernie Sanders is a career politician, as are Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, and most of the other Democratic candidates. Working for the government, particularly as an elected official is way, way different from working for a corporation. There's no profit motive underlying operations. There's no product being sold. It's a completely different way of life, which leads to a different way of thinking.

That's a good thing, I think. But, it is also somewhat an isolating thing. Government has the power of taxation to fund itself. Corporations, like all businesses, have to sell something to stay in the black. Goods or services. Government is in charge of infrastructure, laws, regulations, and of keeping all things governmental running.

There's a big difference between the two environments, and the two do not mix any better than water and oil.

We elect politicians to our highest offices, not corporate leaders. We get to fire them if they perform badly, every couple or few years. That's very different from corporate employment. We need to remember that.
Can't have any of those non corporate presidents Out the corruption of the career politicians and their deep state lackeys.

Serving in the legislature was never meant to be a career.

    3. W Bush and Trump were our corporate presidents

Obama and Clinton were career government officials. I'll prefer the government leaders to lead our government, thanks.
Easier to hide the Democrat and the political class elites corruption. Gotta keep the money flowing.

    7. Agree

I know I don't want a CEO doing surgery on me! I much prefer a "career surgeon". Certainly in no way the best analogy, but we see the results of having a "businessman" President who has no idea how government works on any level, and doesn't care to learn.

    10. Exactly. People from corporate backgrounds don't really

understand the public sector, and vice versa.

Truly they don't. Which is why you get Republican politicians talking about "running the country like a business."

That's impossible, because government produces nothing tangible, and never shows a profit. Government is not at all like business, which is what gets the Republicans in so much trouble every time they get into power.

Government provides services, which are paid for through taxation. Business sells goods and services, and are funded by voluntary purchases, for the most part. Business loves to sell to governments, because governments don't understand that they are being ripped off. Most consumers don't understand that, either, but that's a different thing, sort of...
Businesses do whatever they can to not be ripped off. Politicians expect it and do nothing. Businesses cannot operate very long in the red. Politicians don't care and even work to be sure the country is in the red year after year. Businesses have standards of employees. The government seems to have none. And that's exactly why the political class hates President Trump. He threatens to disrupt their cooshie lifestyle.

    11. I think we've seen clearly with Trump (and even with Bush 43*) the vast problems of

having businessmen who are totally ignorant of Congress and Executive Government attempt to take on the Presidency. Yes, Bush 43 was a Governor, but one of the weakest governorships in the country. The Texas statehouse still holds the power.

No more CEOs! I'll take Oprah over any more of those...

    Oprah isn't a CEO?

    12. I'd agree with that.
Liberals are divorced from reality and they think it's great. When you live in la la land you're never wrong, it's always the other person/groups fault and you can believe what you want to believe and call it 'truth'.

Really? Then how do all of them triple and quadruple their net worth? The product is BS by the truckload.
Yes, it is a completely different way of life called ripping off the constituents. They learn to think like the crooks they are.
The intent was to prevent career politicians rather than train them.

who hasn't really ever worked for a corporation or been the head of one.
Trump - CEO of multiple hospitality and recreation companies.

Obama - "Community activist" whatever the hell that means.

GWB - Texas Air National Guard pilot; founded and operated an oil exploration company; managing general partner of the Texas Rangers baseball team; Governor of Texas.

WJC - U-Arkansas law prof; Arkansas AG; Arkansas Governor

GHWB - Navy pilot during WW2; oil field equipment sales; started an oil drilling company; CIA; House of Representatives; Ambassador to the UN; CIA Director

RWR - Actor, union president, Governor of California

JEC - US Navy; Peanut farming and distribution; Governor of Georgia

IOW, the most recent Dem POTUS with business experience was Carter. But right now it's looking like the next time we have a new President will be 2024, and I think Biden, Bern, and Hillary will be off the political stage by then.

It amazes me how these people laud those who've never worked in the private sector. Never ran a business that had to watch what they spent. Never worked or managed anywhere where they didn't have an endless supply of taxpayer dollars. Worked anywhere where if they were terrible at what they did, that they were shown the door without having to go through a mile of red tape. Never worked where if they didn't produce that the company might go out of business. This country needed a Donald Trump.

Don't kid yourself DUmmy. The only people public servants aim to serve in themselves...

Speaking on behalf of both my husband and our son, NJ ...

True, true, true, and more true!

These career politicians truly are a waste of space, and not worth a penny of what we pay them to NOT do their jobs ...

    And totally make me sick!

For much of her history, America tried to avoid a professional Political Class, but it seems we got one any way.
People either holding office or running for one without ever doing anything else in their lives; no military, no business, not even being a lawyer.
As soon as the cap & gown come off, they're setting up a political campaign.

Deep down I think what the DUers and those on the Left want are in fact wanting a ruling class of Nobles in this country, and people like us who believe in The United States Of America, The Constitution, The Bill Of Rights and a Republic should be the Serfs; and the Nobles' job is to make us mind our manners and keep us from expressing ourselves ( like they're doing now with their censorship ).

In 1770's and 1780's we fought a war to rid ourselves of a Class of Overlords and now The Left want to crate another because they are at heart children who want the Government to be their parent and for that parent to beat the shit out of anyone disagrees with them.

I don't think it's fair to slam just a corporate label on the Bushes. They are a wealthy family that owns and operate businesses and who have been committed to public service through military service and politics for multiple generations.

The accuracy of this is lacking, as my post above demonstrates. So, improving the accuracy of MM's statement:

Most Democrat Presidents are people who have spent their lives in taxpayer funded jobs, in one way or another. They've worked for the government. So, they know little or nothing of the business world in which normal people support themselves and their families.

I prefer people who have lived in and experienced the real world and not spent their lives the Land of Oz.

    and he will sustain you;
    he will never permit
    the righteous to be moved.
