The owner of the Red Hen restaurant in Lexington, Virginia, penned an op-ed in the Washington Post Friday defending a Chicago server who spit on Eric Trump.

Stephanie Wilkinson, who co-owns the restaurant known for kicking out former press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, wrote in the op-ed while “no one in the restaurant industry condones the physical assault of a patron,” Trump administration officials can be targeted for assault and battery in public places

It looks like the restaurant is both very pricey and has very limited seating. One has to reserve a table, and will be charged (credit card) $45 per person in advance, with that amount deducted from the final bill. Cancellations within 72 hours of seating time will result in a "charge" (amount not stated). IOW, it probably would not take a lot of ideology-motivated affluent customers to sustain the place.

That article about the tourism drop-off is from September last year. I wonder if it's still true. It might do wonders for interpersonal relations in the city if ideologues are sustaining the restaurant while the rest of the city's businesses suffer.

I wouldn't eat there for two reasons:

    1. It's not exactly good hygiene for a restaurant to support an employee who spits on customers in the workplace. Yuck.
    2. I would not got through all that just to eat at a trendy spot.
