    Mayor Pete Buttigieg scorned Christian Republicans on Tuesday for opposing a guaranteed $15 an hour minimum wage for workers proposed by Congressional Democrats.

    “The minimum wage is just too low, and so-called conservative Christian senators right now in the Senate are blocking a bill to raise the minimum wage, when Scripture says that whoever oppresses the poor taunts their maker,” he said, citing the book of Proverbs.

    The South Bend mayor criticized Republicans during the CNN Democrat Debate on Tuesday as the candidates discussed the loss of manufacturing jobs in Michigan.

    Buttigieg did not offer any specific solutions for car factory workers losing their jobs, other than worker retraining.

    He recalled that his own city of South Bend struggled after losing a Studebaker factory in their city

    I love it when a political group that is known to be hostile against Christians tries to use Christianity against them. It's like an enemy of yours telling you what part of their fortress to attack.

    I'm for raising the minimum wage, but not to $15 an hour. Small businesses can't afford that. Restaurants can't afford that, either. How about $10 an hour, first? That's a reasonable raise to address the cost of living, but it's not so much that a Big Mac is going to cost $10.

    I wonder what he has to say about Leviticus 18:22?
    Cast your burden on the Lord,
    and he will sustain you;
    he will never permit
    the righteous to be moved.
    Psalm 55:22

    He's agin it. He also does not like where the Law of Moses forbids favoring the rich or the poor in justice. If he knows the Law well enough to be aware of that requirement.

    Buttigieg thinks baiting theologically conservative Christians will be a ticket to the WH. I'm not sure it would even get him the Dem nomination, since many traditionally Dem voters are Catholics. I don't know what percentage of US voters are theologically conservative Christians, but as Hillary found out, crapping on just 20%-25% of US voters is unwise (per her full Basket of Deplorables comment). Because those Deplorables have many friends, family, and coworkers who know who/what they really are. Buttigieg may learn that lesson, probably before the end March, 2020.
