Ahhh, Cannon in D major.... the one song every bride walks down the aisle to.. I learned this in music appreciation at UNLV (there was a ton of hot chick in that class)

This version is better... I tried to get my brother in law to ask his wife to walk to this version.. I offered a grand toward their honeymoon, I even begged her to do it.... She still said no..

That's the music we had. :D Of course it was a recording. And I didn't walk down an aisle, but out the back door and onto patio #2. We had a lovely small wedding at the home. We were lucky as it was a beautiful October day, perfect temps and sunny. To make it even better, Darlene the greyhound dawg joined us in front of the officiant when she was going over the vows. Everyone remembered our wedding. It was special. :)

Untrue, even if you mean Canon in D major, and not actual gunfire.

My processional was Sir C. Hubert Parry's "The Birds" (Aristophanes), (which is a little too rare for You Tube) and my recessional was the Hornpipe from Handel's "Water Music":

As the anthem before the ceremony, the Jubilate Singers (a classical acapella group in Washington, a subset of the Scribner choir which sings with the Symphony and the Washington Opera), sang this, which I still think is a beautiful wedding anthem. It was written by John David in 1980:

I will love you more than me
    and more than yesterday
If you can but prove to me
    you are the new day

Send the sun in time for dawn
Let the birds all hail the morning
Love of life will urge me say
    you are the new day

When I lay me down at night
    knowing we must pay
Thoughts occur that this night might
    stay yesterday

Thoughts that we as humans small
could slow worlds and end it all
lie around me where they fall
    before the new day

One more day when time is running out
    for everyone
Like a breath I knew would come I reach for
    the new day

    Hope is my philosophy
Just needs days in which to be
Love of life means hope for me
    borne on a new day

    You are the new day

More pre-wedding music: "Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring".

During the reception, a pianist played Gershwin, Porter, and other standards.

Here's one view of the room in which we had the wedding and the reception: I was a Hay-Adams bride, long before the Obamas had ever heard of the place. :D

Don't ask me why. Iwasn't part of the planning. I flew home on a Friday, got married the next friday and flew out the following friday. My part was to show up and stick around for awhile.
The 21st century. The age of Smart phones and Stupid people.

It is said that branches draw their life from the vine. Each is separate yet all are one as they share one life giving stem . The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.
