http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_Boehm
Roy Boehm, a plankowner of the US Navy SEALS, and known to many as the 'first SEAL', has died at his home in Florida at the age of 84. Apparently, he died on December 30, but...
Boehm served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam, and his decorations include the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and the Meritorious Service Medal. His wife Susan wanted his death to go unpublicized. "He wanted no obituary, no funeral service and no fanfare" according to reports.
For anyone wanting to read more about the SEAL plankowners or Roy Boehm, I suggest this book..."He's the founding father," said Terry Lynn, director of the Charlotte County Veterans Council. "So there's not a Navy SEAL, I think, that doesn't know his name. He is to the Navy SEALs what George Washington is to the United States."
